ABSTRACT
This research work is focused on “Sustaining Nigerian firms through strategic alliance in the emerging competitive business environment with particular reference to Federal University of Technology Yola. Survey research design was adopted for the study and with the aid of convenient sampling method, the researcher selected Fifty-five (55) participant who are Staff of Federal Polytechnic Ilaro was selected as the respondent of the study. Well structured questionnaire was issued to the respondent of which 50 responses were retrieved and validated for the study. Data was analyzed in frequencies and tables using simple percentage, Mean and standard deviation. Hypothesis test was conducted using Chi-Square and Pearson Correlation Statistic package for social science (SPSS). The results obtained from this study indicates that strategic alliance has been a sound approach that enhanced profit and survival of organizations as indicated by the responses of the Nigerian Firm. Thus, the study agreed that there is a positive correlation between strategic alliance and sustaining of Nigerian firms in the emerging competitive business environment. From the findings of the study, it is therefore recommend that in enhancing their competitiveness globally, emerging economies search for partners with specific resources and capabilities that would compliment their own resources bases to enable them to compete favorably and vice versa those from advanced economies seek local market knowledge and access, and cheap sources of skilled labor. More So, good understanding of the market, competition, and regulators is important for Nigerian Firms. Hence, companies should ensure to get technical assistance partners as this will increase their knowledge of the industry and help them work towards local and international best practice.
